Studio Ababeel is a unique fusion of artistry and tradition, dedicated to the exquisite craft of Kashmir's shawl making.
Founded in 2016, by Akeel Hussain Mir and Charlotte Kaufmann, they carry forward the rich legacy of handwoven pashmina accessories and bring life to the dyeing art of hand spinning of pashmina.

The cashmere fiber used in our creations is selected with the greatest care. It comes from the chest of the Changthangi goat, raised in the highest peaks of Ladakh (5000 m), region of Kashmir. Shepherds from nomadic tribes are looking after these goats as it has always been since centuries.
This cashmere from Ladakh is an extremely rare fiber as its production represents less than 1% in the world, and the average micron of the yarn is not exceeding 14 microns.
This fine and delicate yarn is then handwoven in Srinagar, by master artisans following the tradition of pashmina shawls weaving.

Working with the weavers, embroiders and natural dyers of the Kashmir Valley, Studio Ababeel explore with a wide angle and a contemporary eye the richness of the finest cashmere in the world.
